Used to = Past habits
Function: We use used to when we refer to things in the past which are no longer true. It can refer to repeated actions or to a state or situations.
Form:
Affirmative : Carl used to drive a car, but now he doesn't.
Form:
Negative : Teddy didn't use to be fat, but now he is.
Form:
Interrogative: Did you use to have a pet?
