In the mid 1960s Hollywood began hiring a new generation of filmmakers. Some of them were Martin Scorsese, Stiven Spielberg, and Stanley Kubrick with films such as Bonnie and Clyde, The Godfather, Taxi Driver, etc.

To save the industry, filmmaking studios had to take a risk, and started working with college educated filmmakers which has studied the French New Wave. This is called The New Hollywood movement

Due to the changes in the industry thanks to the prohibition of block booking and The New Franch Wave, producers were now freelancers and the audience started prefering foreign movies rather than the classic Hollywood ones.

In the late 1950s, a new movement was born: The French New Wave. This movement broke some rules that were current at the time such as the jump cuts.

Meanwhile in france, the film critique and director Alexandre Atruc published what is known as "The Birth of a New Avant-Garde La Camera-Stylo"

In the 50s, the USA called the studios to trial and sued them for an illegal monopoly which changed the industry forever.

The Comput-Genrated Imagery (CGI) (special effects generated by a computer) came into scene in the 1990s with movies such as terminator and Jurasic Park.

Alejandro Gonzáles Iñárritu, Alfonso Cuarón y Emmanuel Lubezki are mexican filmmakers who have popularized the ultra long camera shots with movies such as birdman, The revenant, Roma and 1917.

In the 2000s CGI continued to find its fitting with great movies like The Lord of the Rings trilogy and gave rise to the superhero movies which now a days are box office hits

In 2020 Bong Joon-ho made history with his film Parasite, being the first foreign language film to win Best Picture in the Oscar's.

This CGI technology was favorable for independent filmmakers such as Paul Thomas Anderson, the Coen brothers and Quantin Tarantino
