Ch.10 Gravitation
Universal Law of Gravitation
Thrust & Pressure
Mass & Weight
Statement: When a body is immersed fully or partially in a fluid, it experiences an upward force that is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by it.
- Mass: The mass of an object is constant and does not change from place to place.
- Weight: On earth, the weight of an object is the force with which it is attracted towards the earth.
- Weight may vary from place to place but the mass stays constant.
- Gravitational force: - Universal Law of Gravitation:- To calculate gravitational acceleration (g) of earth:
The relative density of a substance is the ratio of its density to that of water.
