The two harvesting seasons

Kharif and Rabi.

India ranks second in worldwide farm outputs. As per a 2018 study, agriculture employed 50% of the Indian work force.

Kharif is sown before monsoon, also known as monsoon crops. They depend directly on the pattern of rainfall. They require a lot of water and heat to grow properly. Harvested between September to October. Eg: Rice, maize, cotton, jowar bajaro etc

Rabi is sown after Kharif crops are harvested, at the end of the monsoon. Rainfall doesnt affect their growth. Germination requires warmth and growth, a cool climate. Harvested between March and April. Eg: Wheat, gram, barley, etc.
