What is a health insurance?
Health insurance is a legal agreement between you and a health insurance company.
Now that we know what is a health insurance, here we have the three most common elements of it.
Co pay
Premium
Deductible
What is Coisurance?
Coinsurance
The percentage of costs of a covered health care service you pay (20%, for example) after you've paid your deductible.
Let's say your health insurance plan's allowed amount for an office visit is $100 and your coinsurance is 20%.
If you've paid your deductible: You pay 20% of $100, or $20. The insurance company pays the rest.
now lets take a look of the public health insurances and their differences
To take care of Americans, the government created two distinct programs that help the most vulnerable citizens with their health care needs. You may be familiar with the names: Medicaid and Medicare. Today we'll talk a little bit about what they are and what their differences are.
Let's start with the basics.
MEDICAID
Medicaid is an assistance program created to help low-income people. There are no age restrictions for entry and its co-payments or deductibles are usually very low, or even zero
MEDIcare
Medicare is a health insurance system paid for by the government. The beneficiaries are all U.S. citizens over the age of 65 regardless of their income. This insurance also protects the disabled and those who need dialysis.
MEDICAID vs medicare
Unlike Medicaid, Medicare is a federal-only program that operates the same way in all states. Patients must pay for part of their care through co-payments or deductibles.
Medicare has four parts, each covering different needs. Part A helps cover inpatient hospital care. Part B covers outpatient needs, such as home care, annual and preventive visits, and medical supplies. Finally, Part D is a private service offered for an additional premium and provides coverage for certain drugs.
