How can we express wishes in English?

Future wishes
[Subject]+Wish(es)+[2nd subject]+Could or Would
For example:
- I wish that baby would stop crying
- I wish I could travel around the world
- I wish I could visit mount everest
- I wish it would stop raining
Present wishes
[Subject]+Wish(es)+[2nd subject]+ Past tense
For example:
- I wish I had more money
- She wishes she knew how to fix a flat tyre
- We wish we weren't at school
- I wish I were relaxed
Past wishes
[Subject]+Wish(es)+[2nd subject]+ Had + Past tense
For example:
- I wish the teacher had given me a 10
- I wish I had remembered my sunglasses
I wish... = If only...
It's just another way of expressing things you want to happen, but that won't happen, or are impossible to happen.For example:
- If only he would smile
- If only we had a dog
- If only I had studied more
