PHRASAL VERBS

Los verbos compuestos son frases que indican acciones. Generalmente se utilizan en inglés hablado y en textos informales. Ejemplos de tales verbos incluyen: rechazar, encontrarse y toparse . (turn down, come across and run into).

Phrasal verbs consist of a verb and a preposition or an adverb:Los phrasal verbs constan de un verbo y una preposición o un adverbio

El significado de los phrasal verbs

A veces, es difícil comprender el significado de los phrasal verbs. Antes de buscarlos en un diccionario, sería útil utilizar el contexto para comprenderlos. The phrasal verb 'put up' here does not mean to build (as in putting a fence up). It has, however, an idiomatic/figurative meaning. It means to let someone stay in your house. Puedes poner mi arriba para esta noche? El phrasal verbo 'poner ' aquí no significa construir(como en poner una cerca). Sin embargo, tiene un significado idiomático / figurativo. Significa dejar que alguien se quede en tu casa.
