What is metal?
Metals are minerals or substances that form naturally below the earth's surface.most metals are lustrous/shiny. They are inorganic,means foarmed from non living entities.
What is non metal?
Material which donot show the properties of metals are genrally tearmed as non metals. Usually,gases or brittle solids are non metals.
Properties of metals and non metals
1) Appearance- Metals are genrally shiny in nature.Any material that shines/glows is called lustrous So, we can call metals lustruios in nature. Non metals are non lustrous and dull.[exeption: Potassium(metal) Graphite(non)]
2)Hardness - Meatals are very hard in nature they can not be broken easily,whereas non metals can be broken easily with less effort. As they are softer.[exeption:Potassium,Sodium(metals)Diamond(non)] 3)State of matter -Metals are mostly solid in nature. non metals on other hand are soft solids,liquid or gases.[exeption:Mercury(metal)]

4)Mettability- The property of material to be shaped into anything by hammering or using a rollers is known as mettalbility.Metals are malleable, they can be bent into varios hapes or made into sheets. Non metals are non malleble.[exeption:Zinc{metal) Graphite (non)]
5)Ductiality- The ability of material to be shaped into wires is called ductiality, metals can form a wire so we can say they are ductile whereas non metals are non ductile.[exeption:Zinc(metal]
6)Conduction of heat- Metals are good conductors of heat and non metals do not conduct heat,Hence most cooking utensils are made of metals and handle with non metals.[exeption:Bismuth (metal)] 7) Conduction of electricity -Metals are good comductors of electricity.
