The Past Simple

Definition: The form of a verb used to describe an action that happened before the present time and is no longer happening. It is usually made by adding -ed: -The past simple of 'cook' is 'cooked'.

Past Simple Tense Question form

Were you in the park yesterday? Yes,I was. / No,I wasn't. Was she in the Music room in the morning? Yes,she was. / No,she wasn't.

Past Simple Tense Question form

Were they friends? Yes,they were. / No,they weren't. Was he tall? Yes,he was. / No,he wasn't.

Question form with verb to be

Did you go to the cinema last week? Yes,I did. / No,I didn't. Did they eat ice cream? Yes,they did. / No,they didn't.
