These 4 geographic features that accompany greeks and romans will determine their develop in economy, politic, comunication and transport.
Greece respect of the seas and the balkan peninsula
A peninsula is a piece of land that is almost entirely surrounded by water but is connected to the mainland on one side. From the sea, they obtain important natural resources for food. Also, they use the sea as a comunication way between the cities- state, most of the them in the sea shore. Finally, the sea make the trade easier between the greeks cities and the other towns near the Balkan peninsula..
Greece: mountains and islands
The Balkan peninsula is a mountainous place, this situation make the communication by land more difficult than by the sea. It was very hard to make roads and find land for the agriculture activities. For this reason, the greeks started to go abroad by the sea to find land to the shores of the Agean and Mediterranean seas to cultivate. The Balkan mountain range is the most important group of mountain in the peninsula. The islands of the Agean sea were an important place to exchange diferent products and also ports of passage in the long trips.
Rome respect to the seas and the Italian peninsula
The seas arround the Italian peninsula will be so important for the commerce and conquest of the new territories. Across the Mediterranean sea, romans establish comercial routes for exchange diferent products with new territories. Finally, the seas arround de Italian peninsula give natural resources for food to the romans.
Rome: mountains and istands
The Italian peninsula has 2 important mountains range, the Alps to the north and the Apennines across of the peninsula. Despite this condition, the romans could develop the agriculture and the livestock. Also they could build "calzadas" or roads along the peninsula and in all the empire territories. Arround the peninsula there are some islands, bigger than the greeks islands.From the islands, the romans obtain different resources and help them as ports for the trade.

Seas: allow to sail for obtain resources, communicate and trade with others cultures.
Mountains: made difficult the agriculture, but they were an advantage for the livestock.
Islands: give them resources, stimulate the sail and the commmerce.
