John Dewey and Reflective Practice

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS:

John Dewey says…

Reflection is a meaning-making process that moves a learner from one experience into the next with deeper understanding of its relationships with and connections to other experiences and ideas.

What does this mean to you?

Reflection for us is a process in which through different experiences that the student has in the learning process, whether good or bad, we get a better understanding of a topic that perhaps we didn't know or gives us more knowledge about that and thus in our mind creates a better understanding of something that we felt was confusing.

Why could be the benefits to this approach to reflection?

This learning process is useful because students are free to create their own points of view from the experiences they have. It is important that they are involved in each stage of the teaching-learning activities.

What questions do you have about this quote? What changes might you make to it?

The following questions arise: How can we move the student from one experience to another? Why is it important to share ideas with others in the process of reflection? The statement would increase: Reflection allows us to learn from the experiences of others.

How can we measure these criteria in this course?

It's measured by the extent to which the interests of a group are shared by all its members, also the freedom within other groups' interaction.
