MVHR is designed to be most effective as a continuously running ventilation system, meaning it should be on 24/7, 365 days of the year. Because it is a continuous system working over time, the air flow rates are lower than an intermittent extract fan. MVHR is a balanced system meaning the total supply and extract rates are always equal. This is to maintain air paths without the influence of outside pressure.
