Thanks for attending this interview. Shakespeare: It’s my pleasure! Interviewer: So, let’s start with asking an important question…

Interviewer: 1. There are places that have shaped your life. Tell us about the most important place.

Shakespeare: The most important place for me is the house where I was born and raised, even after marrying my wife who was pregnant. My birthplace is in Stratford in UK. Outside the house are exhibited my father's glover works as well as my first writing. It is a very important home for me, I have spent my life there, as have my children.

Interviewer: 2. Why didn’t you decide to move to another country, for example to come in Italy, where there was developing so much culture? Shakespeare: I have never come in Italy and in general I didn’t go in other countries, because I was famous in England, and that was enough for me. I directed a theatre company to UK. Moreover I dedicated myself to act and write some works. I was establishing myself in a period, that was called “golden age”, because there was the flourishing for the arts and in particular for the theatre, which became a popular form of entertainment. Furthermore I worked in London theatres and London represented the home of the first permanent playhouses. For all these reasons, I didn’t think about leaving my birth’s place.

Interviewer: 3. Why did you set your works in Italy?Shakespeare: Oh, this is a good question! I sat my works in Italy because the Renaissance firstly born in Italy, in Florence. Only after, the culture current developed in Europe and in England. So, I look Italy with admiration, that was the centre of the culture, the cradle of the Renaissance. I decided to sat In Italy different works, one among all, the famous tragedy: Romeo and Juliet.

Interviewer: 4. A question that arises spontaneously is: How did you discover your passion for literature? Shakespeare: My mum was a literate and she read stories to me and to siblings and the stories I heard have influenced me. This means that it was the first step, to get closer to literature and to discover the love for this field. Surely, my admiration for literature grew up also at grammar school, that I attended as a young boy. There I showed my interest for the classics of literature.

Interviewer:5.How was your first appearance on the stage, for you? And when did it happen?

Shakespeare:I made my first appearance on the London stage, where my works would be written and performed, around 1592. I was, however, well know enough to be attacked by critics in the newspaper.

Interviewer: 6. In the past, the sons followed the father’s steps…Did your father accept the idea that you wanted to follow another career? Shakespeare:Firstly, my dad didn’t agree with my idea, but when I took an apprenticeship in my dad’s glove making workshop, he realized that it wasn’t the job suitable for me. It represented also an occasion for me, to strength the idea that I didn’t like working there. Interviewer: It’s very interesting hearing and learning more about your life… But now, I have a question related to your work.

Interviewer: 8. Do you have a fascinating vision of love, in particular of women, that reflect the modern vision…Why didn’t you take ideas from others authors that instead considered the woman like an angelic creature and unattainable? Shakespeare: I decided to change, to make something of different respect the others authors. In fact I had a goal: gather the traditional style with the need of the public. So, I showed in my works, another vision of love and of the women, that is near to the reality, not superhuman, not perfect, but people that make mistakes like us. In general, the themes that I chose for my works, were new, like for example the theme of the passage of time or about beauty, in addition to the new vision of love and women.

Interviewer:7. What did you think about marry a pregnant woman that was also older than you? Were you inclined to this wedding? Shakespeare:Oh, even if she was older than me, I loved her and I love her. A sentence about her that I wrote says: “Life is too short to love you in one. I promise to look for you in the next life". In another sonnet I wrote: “Anne saved my life”. The sonnet 145 is one of the first sonnets which I wrote, that I dedicated to her.

Interviewer:9.Some people say you are wealthy because you are a play wright. Is it the truth?

Shakespeare:This is not the truth. I am wealthy because I have been a shareholder in two companies and in two theatres. People don't get wealthy for writing plays, you have to be a shoulder to make a real money.

Conclusion...

Interviewer:That’s all…thank you so much for answering at our questions and for being here. See you soon and thanks for all. Shakespeare: It has been a wonderful experience. Thanks to all you. Bye bye.
