Headset

Sound Waves

When a drum is struck, the skin of the drum vibrates creathing sound waves. In headset, the skin of the drum would be the diaphragm that is stretched through the cone of the headset.

Sound source

At the smallest end of the earpiece cone is an iron coil on a magnet. The coil is conected to the headset cables that reach our sound source. The sound from the source is an electrical signal that turns the coil into a electromagnet.

Electrical signal

The electrical signal of the source is alternating, wich means that the magnetic poles of the coil will change from north to south and south to north according to the received electrical signal.

Sound Waves reach the ear.

These polarity changes cause the coil to attract or repel from the magnet just behind it, causing it to move back and forth. The coil being connected to the diaphragm pushes and pulls it pumping the sound waves and this sound waves reach the ear.
