1. No it could never because...

"The Virgin Mother"artist : Damien Hirst date : 2005 Measurment : 10232 x 4620 x 2065 mm | 403 x 181.9 x 81.3 in Material : Painted bronze Gold, Silver and Bronze

What matters here is : measurments

Description > Left bottom : a woman in the grass with her child Left side : a poppy's field Background : some threes, a cloudy blue sky and another woman with her child in the poppy's field.

"Les coquelicots" Artist : Claude monet Date : 1873 Technique : Oil on canvas Style : Impressionism

Westminster Abaye - london construction : 13th century >> very old (traditionnal art) Forever in our memories bc people can see it at anytime

Impressionists attempt to accurately and objectively record visual reality in terms of transient effects of light and colour. The importance of the traditionnal subject matter was downgraded and the attention was shifted to the artist's manipulation of colour, tone and texture.

If you watched the canvas closer you would see brushtrokes, details and all the different colours would be separated.

2\ But it has its own advantages

what to retain : Since pandemic lot of people lost ability to establish new social connexions or scared being infected > harder for them to go to movie theater so streaming platforms = solution

Could technologies and digital art replace traditionnal art and places (such as movie theater) ?

Since the digital age (a time when large amounts of information are widely available to many people, largely through computer technology) which is our era, everything have changed. Technology revolutionised everypieces of our lives. Art is one of them (creative activity such as painting, music, litterature, dance and more...). If someone asked you 20 years ago what you would think first when they say the word "art", you probably would have answered "painting, dancing, singing etc..." But now it would be different because technology gave us so many new possibilities such as augmented reality, watching a movie on your phone or even making musing from a computer ! The art indusrtry has evoluated a lot and technology is currently taking a big part of it now. The question is could technology and digital art replace traditionnal art and places (such as movie theater or concert hall) ? To answer the question we will see first that no, it could never but that it has its own advantages and then that tradition and modernity can coexist in art.

1 \ No it could never because.... - traditionnal art = historically too important too replace : some pieces of art are fixed in our cultures "les coquelicots" > people learn about it in school\university + everywhere we go : architecture (cathedral & monuments : Westminster Abaye) - can't 100% appreciate & see details (brush strokes, measurement) > "les coquelicots" with impressionism : the closer you watch the most you see colour sections but on a picture = harder. + "the virgin mother" on a phone --> can't visualize real measurements >>> going to a museum offers better quality : authentic and physical artwork - movie theater, museum or concert hall help people to socialize (tweet from Joshuagale75) : since it is closed people stayed home bc nothing else to do --> lost ability to socialize. 2\ ...But it has its own advantages - does not require that much equipment (unlike traditionnal : paint, brush, canvas, light etc...) only ONE device (computer, phone, ipad...) >> everybody have at least one of these device at home. >>> anyone is in a position to do digital art. (Press atricle from "wired") - Since pandemic lot of people lost ability establish new social connexions (Tweet Joshua) or : scared being infected (statisitic> harder for them to go to movie theater >>> streaming platforms = solution (statistic 2), ex : (statistic 1) most american would not return in movie theater in july 2020 Specially Boomers and all adults. - (Article from "pointdevue.com") > gives new ways to express yourself (can transform forms, objects or perceptions : everything possible). It adds details and can makes your art richer. It provides a new insight. - most advertising are made by it. (picture mcdonalds advertising) 3/ And they can coexist and being put together - video from tate britain : augmented reality is used on traditionnal artwork. > people still in the museum, see orginal artwork & have new point of view of each canvas thanks to AR (digital art)

Conclusion : No, digital art could never replace traditionnal art that is present in our cultures since the beginning of humanity, even though it has a lot of advantages especially nowadays . Morever we also know thanks to these documents that they can be gathered to improve both of them. Finally, why would one of them be superior when we can benefit from both at the same time? Is it a must to forget tradition when modernity surfaces?
