A VERY USEFUL KIND OF EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH: ACTION RESEARCH
The action research cycle:
Action research: an example for language teaching
An example:Problem: In technical translation, the specific terminology search is time consuming. Reduction of time devoted to search affects accuracy.Hypothesis: Organised team work can reduce time devoted to specific terminology search while preserving accuracyIntervention: A team of 5 translators is assigned to a translation project. They are instructed to organise the terminology search with 2 translators doing the initial search, 2 translators checking accuracy and 1 translator controlling quality.Evaluation: After the translation is finished, the client is asked to answer a client satisfaction survey which requires to rate the quality of the translation and the time efficacy. The team are interviewed to learn about their impressions of this work methodology.
Can we do it in translation? Sure

You are to design an action research project
YOU MAY DESIGN YOUR ACTION RESEARCH PROJECT AS A TEAM(2-4 MEMBERS)iF YOU DO SO, REMEMBER TO WRITE THE NAMES OF ALL THE MEMBERS OF THE TEAM IN THE FORUM POSTING
TO WRITE IN FORUM
- Problem: E.G.: STUDENTS DO NOT DO HOMEWORK
- Hypothesis: E.G.: RESPONSIBILITY FOR DOING THE HOMEWORK WILL INCREASE IF SS ARE ASSIGNED GROUP WORK
- Pre-test: FOR A MONTH, THE TEACHER FILLS A HOMEWORK FORM WHICH RECORDS EACH S'S COMPLIANCE WITH WEEKLY HOMEWORK
- Intervention: ss ARE ASSIGNED TO GROUPS OF 5 SS TO DO HOMEWORK
- Evaluation of results: THE SAME HOMEWORK FORM IS USED TO CHECK SS' COMPLIANCE WITH GROUP HOMEWORK
