2. This shows how at the end of the story, Walter's dream starts to shift from not just monetary needs, but more to having pride and dignity, and not sacrificing that for money.
"Well--what I mean is that we come from people who had a lot of pride. I mean--we are very proud people. And that's my sister over there and she's going to be a doctor--and we are very proud--"

That be ten thousand each." 33 This shows how facing the problem of their lack of money and inability to support his family, he decides to go and try to earn money to help his family, and how he confronts this problem. This also gives us an insight into his obsession with money, and how he puts it over everything else, and eventually, over his dignity.

3. Lorraine Hansberry wants us to know that everyone has their own dreams that they want to achieve, and you should try to achieve progress with those dreams. Also though, she says that you should never sacrifice your dignity for a dream like money.
