SLcalantropo
- the lawyer's first goal is "how surviving a jungle of laws"
managing your time
SLCalantropo
- take your tasks and convert them into blocks of time on your daily schedule. When time blocking, it is also helpful to try and batch similar tasks together to make more efficient use of your time. This allows you to focus your energy on the most important items, and be less distracted by incoming items
- Every day is a chess match with time and you are only an outcome: win!
Matryoshka Method
slcALANTROPO
Another method of time management we can call "Matryoshka".This requires you to sort your tasks into the following four categories: (1) Important & Urgent; (2) Important, But Not Urgent; (3) Urgent, But Not Important, and (4) Not Urgent & Not Important. By sorting your tasks into these categories you can easily identify the tasks you need to complete, the tasks you want to complete, and the tasks that can always be saved for a later day.

Lawyers are some of the most hardworking people out there. They put in many more hours of work compared to those in other professions. Lawyers, infact, work between 50 and 60 hours weekly on average. This is because of the many obligations they have to fulfill, and it is simply much more than just showing up in court to make some passionate speech to defend their clients. The activities and list of tasks of a lawyer are largely dependent on his or her specialisation, or the area of law that they practice. This means an attorney who is focused on labour law or personal injury will spend more time in administrative hearings or courtrooms as opposed to those who work in real estate or business law.
Many lawyers start very early to their workday, as you can expect them to be the first to arrive in the office in the morning, every day. The main reason for this is that I feel more productive when the office is not officially open for the day. This means there are no phone calls, client meetings, or court appearances so I could focus on the other tasks on my to-do list. I choose this time to either respond to emails or other correspondence or read up on any messages or memos I received. If I will head out to court afterward, I will use this time to review the cases and get ready for the hearing. Sometimes I might also try to finish some other tasks I cannot accomplish when I'm are out of the office for the next hours. Often I also have to prepare a lot of documents related to my active cases, including motions, memorandums, pleadings and similar paperwork. This takes time and mornings are perfect for these tasks because it is quiet enough and the mind is still fresh and alert.
During business hours if I'm in the office, I will be spending the time on the phone or at meetings. I may be talking to clients, updating them on their cases, or also discussing cases with fellow lawyers. Depending on my specialisation, I might also be contacting other people related to their cases. I might also be outside of the office, doing my research as part of cases. For example, I could need to visit the scene where the crime happened, collecting data and making my assessments, or looking for witnesses
The everyday responsibilities of our work consist of the following: - Advising clients- Interpreting laws and applying them to specific cases - Gathering evidence for a case and researching public and other legal records - Representing clients in court - Examining legal data to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuit - Presenting evidence to defend clients or prosecute defendants in criminal l litigation - Preparing and drafting legal documents e.g. legal briefs, wills, deeds, mortgages, leases etc. - Negotiating settlements - Supervising legal assistants - Act as agent, trustee, guardian, or executor for businesses or individuals
One of the most important attributes that a lawyer must have is adaptability. Infact after you had everything planned out up to the last minute it could happen that all of a sudden, an urgent duty comes up, and you need to abandon your well-planned schedule completely. Sudden calls from clients, important documents that need reviewing, and sometimes canceled court appearances pop out of nowhere and the day that they’ve planned has gone awry. That’s why being able to adapt to any situation is one of the most important qualities that a lawyer must have. Sometimes lawyers have to wait for hours inside the courthouse before they meet a judge to hear their case. There will be times when a judge would issue a continuance, making the lawyer’s trip to the courthouse all for nothing. A postponement of the case would also mean that the lawyer would have to explain to a client why their case is taking longer to finish. The clients are the number one priority for lawyers. Maintaining a good client relationship is essential for any law firm and the responsibility of taking care of the client and making sure that they are happy with the service they are getting rests on the shoulder of the firm’s lawyers help improve their case. So why do lawyers love doing their jobs? . Some may say that getting a favorable outcome for a case gives them a great sense of achievement. Some may say that it’s fulfilling because it’s a dynamic profession that requires a different set of skills every day. Some may say that it’s because they were able to change a client’s life for the better. Whatever the reason may be, it’s best to remember that it takes a lot of work to become a good lawyer.

REMUS SHIP
SlCalantropo
A crew of 11 Montenegrins attempted to smuggle 20 tons of hashish across the Mediterranean before they were intercepted by Italy's maritime police, Italian authorities said on Thursday."The Mediterranean Sea again is confirmed to be one of the world's largest arteries for illegal trafficking," police said. "The results of the operation are the fruit of attentive intelligence gathering and analysis of the ship's routes." Suspicious Montenegrins The research and survey vessel Remus was sailing from the Canary Islands towards Turkey, but police noticed the ship had turned off its position transmitter close to the North African coast. Italian authorities obtained permission from officials in Panama before moving in to detain the Panama-flagged vessel in international waters. According to the police, crew members aboard the ship were behaving suspiciously, prompting the authorities to escort Remus to port in Palermo. Once there, police drained the vessel's fuel tanks to find 650 sacks containing compressed cannabis resin. All 11 members of the crew were arrested for international drug trafficking. Morocco in northern Africa is the world's biggest producer of hashish.
ABOU DIAKITE
SLCALANTROPO
The 15-year-old from Ivory Coast died in a hospital after being evacuated from one of the cruise ships where Italian authorities are keeping migrants as part of efforts to limit the spread of Covid-19.
SALVINI TRIAL (OPEN ARMS)
SLCALANTROPO
Palermo prosecutors have accused Salvini of dereliction of duty and kidnapping, for keeping the migrants at sea off the coast of Lampedusa for almost three weeks in August 2019. During the standoff, some people threw themselves overboard in desperation as the captain pleaded for a safe, close port. Eventually, after a 19-day ordeal, the remaining 83 migrants still onboard were allowed to disembark in Lampedusa. Salvini had maintained a hard line on migration as interior minister during the first government of the then prime minister, Giuseppe Conte, from 2018-19. While demanding that EU nations do more to take in migrants arriving in Italy, Salvini argued that humanitarian rescue ships were only encouraging Libyan-based traffickers and that his policy saved lives by discouraging further risky trips across the Mediterranean.
MEDHANIE YEDHEGO MERED
SLCALANTROPO
For three years, the central question of Italy’s highest-profile migration case, against the smuggler Medhanie Yehdego Mered—who presided over a complex criminal enterprise that spanned eleven countries and three continents, and involved numerous accomplices, the trafficking of thousands of migrants, and millions of euros in illicit profits—has not been the quality or volume of evidence against him but whether the man that prosecutors had in custody was, in fact, Mered. The defendant appeared instead to be a refugee named Medhanie Tesfamariam Berhe, a former milk salesman whose only shared attributes with Mered were his nationality and his first name. Hundreds of Eritreans—including Berhe’s family members and Mered’s wife, brother, and former clients—have come forward to say that the wrong man is in custody. Documents from Eritrea have proved that Berhe and Mered are distinct people, and DNA tests have confirmed that the man in custody is related to Berhe’s mother and not to Mered’s son. No government has issued an arrest warrant for Mered, because he is officially considered to be in Italian custody. “This was an international embarrassmen”
