Uses
Past Simple
It is used to tell or narrate events that happened at a specific moment in the past. We also use this tense to talk about sequential actions (ex: First, he came, second, he showered...)
Past Continuous
It is used to talk about actions IN PROGRESS during a period of time in the past. We also use this tense to talk about simultaneous actions (while...when...)

Affirmative They painted in the park. S + Verb + C (Regular / Irregular Verbs) Negative I did not bring my brushes S + did not + V (base form)
Affirmative She was studying arts. S + was/were + V-ing Negative They weren´t paying attention to class. S +was/were + not + V-ing

Yes/No question Did he teach English? Yes, he did No, he didn´t Wh-question When did they meet? Who introduced them? Note: When using DID, put the verb in the base form.
