Tanja Nikolovski, project main coordinator

It was 2018, January, the time when it was necessary to decide whether to start a new Erasmus + project or not. For a long time, I had the idea to compare school systems for teaching people with special needs in Europe. I wanted to discover Who in Europe has pure inclusion, is inclusion the best form of teaching, what are the advantages of special schools, what are the disadvantages, ... so I posted the idea on the E-twinning platform, called some of our former partners and a wonderful group was formed: a great partnership of highly motivated, hard-working and wonderful coordinators from Portugal, Turkey, Croatia, Italy, Poland and Slovenia.

Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success...

Made by polish students.

IDEA - Together We Can!

This picture was taken during mobility to Poland. In picture are Croatian and Polish students and teacher. Even though we do not speak the same language and we had some difficulties in understanding each other we became friends. I learned that for communication you do not need anything else than good will and a smile.

Jelena Žanko (teaching assistant)

Josipa Tomašević, Religion teacher

In this photo we were at a dance workshop. We were all excited to learn a new dance. Although some children did not know how to speak English, music and dance brought us together. It seemed to me that the children were free, relaxed ... I think that music and dance help children with a lack of self-confidence and shyness. When we danced we felt free. No need to know the language (English or Italian) just to feel the music and the rhythm ... In class I use music as a medium of communication.

Lorem ipd sea utamur aperiam, te per choro accusamus consulatu?

This project was full of challenges for both students and teachers. At the last mobility in Slovenia, I had the opportunity to at least partially experience what it is like to be blind. The task before me was not easy at all despite all the support and guidance of colleague. In the end, I managed to walk through everything and even eat lunch with a blindfold on. A wonderful and instructive experience of "walking in someone else's shoes".

Lana Trojnar, pedagogue

Lorem ipd sea utamur aperiam, te per choro accusamus consulatu?

This photo was taken 370 m below the ground. It was the biggest Poland adventure. I have never imagine it was so hard to work in a mine. Of course, we were just sightseeing, and stil it wasn't easy. However, in the end we did everything bravely. Look at those faces, I cannot see fear.

Jadranka Bašić – Parić, pedagogue

Lorem ipd sea utamur aperiam, te per choro accusamus consulatu?

The beautiful Krakow hid some of the many attractions. Among them was blind Eros, as we learned. Whether love is really blind or something completely different is hiding there, we have not been able to find out. But a wonderful memory remained forever captured in this photograph.

Sunčica Ninčević, English teacher

Lorem ipd sea utamur aperiam, te per choro accusamus consulatu?

Zlata Katavić, croatian coordinator

This picture was taken on the last mobility in Slovenia. It turned out to be completely "accidental". It was taken by my dear colleague Ebru, who did not immediately see what work of art she had made. Everything has its beginning and end in life and that is why we should appreciate moments like this. Wonderful travels, wonderful people, useful cooperation and unforgettable memories. So grateful for everthing.

About my pictures... well It was such an interesting experience full of emotions, my pictures show my involvement in the topic but at the same time my happiness for Being part of this group!!! Amanda, teacher When we listen and share what is both common and different, we became wiser. Rafaella, teacher A group of people who believe in what they do, are willing to share their experiences, do it with enthusiasm, joining forces... overcomes all kinds of limits and breaks down all barriers. Tilde, teacher

Among my photos of mobility in Turkey, I chose this: these are two paintings made by disabled children from one of the schools visited in Istanbul; I was struck by all the manual-artistic works, made with different techniques, by children so fragile, but which gave me such serenity. In particular, I found these two paintings wonderful, especially because they were made by young people with serious problems and who proudly showed us the fruit of their work and commitment. I remember that each of us purchased, with a small offer, an artifact .... and I jealously keep it mine.

Catia, teacher

I found the visit to the "Museum of illusions" in Zagreb very exciting, where I had the opportunity to experiment with multiple experiences, new and very fascinating for me. I was particularly impressed by the Ames room, where due to the parallelepiped shape, a person standing in one corner appears giant, while another positioned in the opposite corner seems tiny.

They are 3 photos that well represent the theme of Erasmus K2, inclusion. Inclusion that beyond teaching techniques, theories and steps, feelings are played, especially empathy. Reading in which I believe as a very strong moment of sharing and access to equal opportunities but also to the art that the narrative contains, to put yourself in the shoes of the other.

The experience of the Erasmus + project and in particular of mobility in Poland, offered me the opportunity to develop and share knowledge and skills at their schools and adult institutions. But the thing I will most cherish will be the deafening silence of the weak and defenseless of Auswchwitz.

In this picture all partners involved in the Italian mobility and part of the Italian Erasmus team visited the catering and hotel management (high secondary) school, Istituto professionale per i servizi alberghieri e ristorazione – Ranieri Antonelli Costaggini, in Rieti. This school is well known for its strong level of inclusion of SEN students. Erasmus+/ European projects, best practices and projects for inclusion of SEN students were presented in theory and practice.

Presentation of the dance activity in Bytom

The entire school gathered at the entrance of the school to watch the presentation of the dance activity that each country rehearsed. It was a very particular moment of emotion, since each one of us reached a little bit of the traditions, the cultures of the participating countries ... we were able to appreciate and value as the color that sets us apart, but which, in the end, can even unite us...

Three wonderful years of work, conviviality but above all personal and professional enrichment. All the moments we experienced contributed to gain knowledge, experience reflection on the discrepancies in the world and let grow in our hearts the willpower to make the difference.

From 27.6 to 2.7.2021, I visited a partner school in Portugal, named Agrupamento de Escolas de Aver-o-Mar in Póvoa de Varzim. I became acquainted with their school organization, educational system and attended certain classes. I also talked to the principal about their organization of work in school.

It is nice to be part of an Erasmus + team where inspite of the diversity, the team is connected. I enjoyed mobility in Italy and Croatia, especially socializing, learning about new school systems and the characteristics of individual countries.

Damjana, special education teacher

Visiting a school in Italy was an unforgettable experience. Despite not knowing the language (Italian), communicating with the toddlers from kindergarten when we were making cookies was unforgettable. Language was no obstacle. Children are so cute, innocent, honest.

I took part in the trip of getting to know the mobility of Italian schools. During the trip I learned a lot about their education system. I attended one of their dance classes, which I really enjoyed. After the trip I made a dance choreography with our own students through which I presented them a part of Italy.

My impressions from Italy...

In March I participated in a project of mobility. I believe it is positive that all the participating countries represented themselves with traditional music-dance routines. We could learn something about every country in the project. I enjoyed working together with elderly people and students from primary and high school. We left Poland full of positive thoughts and new knowledge...

Zdenka Kokol, teacher

I attended mobility of Erasmus project in Poland. I got to know their way of teaching and I also managed to share my experience working with students with special needs. I am pleased that rich and valuable experiences are being passed on between the partners under the Erasmus project. We visited countless landmarks which will, as well as the hospitality of the hosts, remain in my memory.

Marija Zelenko, teacher

There was always a feeling of positive energy and good will and a lot of dedication to work. This somehow calms me down and makes me happy that it enables people with SEN to have the best possible quality of life, education and integration into society. No matter what country we live in, we can always learn from each other. Together we can do more and more. Really thank you for a nice experience.

Vesna Majcen, teacher

It's hard to pick only one moment from our Mobility trip in Istanbul. I am grateful to have been part of a team that explored the educational aspect of our work. I think this is a very important international project that allowed us to work together and learn about different approaches and methods of working with special needs students. The program was very rich in content, but also allowed for socialising with other participants during our free time. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

Our impressions from Istanbul have only partially fulfilled our expectations. We missed direct work with children with special needs, especially on the field of lower education standards and consequently the use of their didactic-methodical approaches and strategies. In the Metin Sabath cerebral palsy training and educational centre we saw the use of technology and technological equipment of classrooms, and also some different gadgets and other modern technologies in the teaching process.

My favourite memory from Croatia is playing labyrinth at school and hanging out with friends from Croatia and Poland.

Lena, student

I liked the most when we had a trip to Split. I also enjoyed visiting schools and hanging out with new friends from other countries.

Lea, student

I visited Croatia. I liked the workshops and hanging out with new friends. We had a great time at farewell dinner.

Valerija, student

It was very nice in Zagreb. I saw a tram and a lot of cars. I visited the school. We stayed at a hotel, my roommate was Lea. It was great to live with her. We ate outside and saw many beautiful things.

Nina, student

I liked the most when we had workshops at school in Poland and that we became friends with Croatian girls.

Sara, student

I liked the most when we visited a school in Poland and a farm where we learned how sour milk is made. We enjoyed a lot with friends from Croatia.

Janja, student

Mobility to Turkey was unforgettable experience for me. I took a plane for the first time. I liked the difference and the hospitality of the Turkish people.

Our visit took place in Italy - Rome between 27.05.2019 - 31.05.2019. In the program, the school for the hearing impaired, where the mainstreaming and reverse fusion training was given for 3 different levels, was visited. In Monteflavio I have observed that family, doctor and educators (all stakeholders in contact with the education of the student) are an important detail to be involved in the process as much as possible.

I work as a classroom teacher at TSCV Metin Sabancı Special Education Schools. I enjoyed every stage of this project. First of all, it was a brand new experience for me to host our colleagues and students from the project partner countries in our school, to share with them, to explain our point of view and practices. Then, in the process listening what our friends learned from their visits, helped us gain new perspectives.

From the very first time of meeting until the minute we left I had so many moments that I felt very good, even if it was not language-wise with the participants from all the countries. Students from the middle school prepared an activity for making tiramisu together. When I attended their classes, the kids were very excited and energetic. A student left the classroom and then turned back with an accordion, to make a great surprise. They sang and we danced together. I was very, very happy.

As a member of the I.D.E.A project in November, I went to Croatia / Zagreb. During my project visit to Croatia, I saw examples parallel to the studies in our country as special education practices. Students and teachers turned their schools, which they spent most of their days, into living spaces. Coming together with my experienced colleagues as an educator and listening them on the topic of “what more can be done?” was precious.

Sinem Yaraşan, teacher

I.D.E.A was not the first mobility program for me but it was one of the bests. Experiencing different practices in field was exciting. We learned and shared a lot. I like meeting with people from different countries and cultures, and I.D.E.A was great opportunity to realize it. I would like to thank all the participants for their energy and sharing. But my biggest thanks and appreciation would go to the Portuguese team for providing everything for us with a great hospitality...

Meltem Haykır, teacher

It was really enjoyable to take part in this project, which includes different experiences. Portugal is a beautiful country beyond my dreams. Its architecture, landscaping, tolerance, hospitality and human relationships give people peace of mind. The conscience of nature and people is almost in the atmosphere of the whole city. These beauties are reflected in the education system as well. The similarity of the education system with our country is immediately noticeable.

Our trip, which started with Slovenia welcoming us with the alpine mountains, continued with embracing us with many extraordinary natural beauties. We came back with so many good memories... Tanya!
