Identify the patient properly
Prepare all the materials needed.
Puncture the selected site to a depth of 3mm.
Clean the selected area with alcohol and allow it to air-dry.
Star the timer once the second drop of blood appears.
Coagulation time (slide method)
Place the second drop of blood onto the glass slide
Wipe off the first drop of blood.
Stop the timer when fibrin strands are seen attached to the tip of the needle
Record and interpret the results. (NORMAL VALUES: 2-4mins).
Pass the tip of the lancet through the drop of blood every 30s and check for the formation of fibrin strands
