Title and Author: My Brother Sam is Dead by James Licoln Collier & Christopher Collier
Summary: Sam and his father got into an argument about him going to the military. Sam runs away and joins the military. Tim and his father were going back home from selling cattle and Tim’s father was captured. A few days later Tim and his mother found out that his father died. After two years of Sam being in the military they got to see him again. A few months later they got to see him again. He was accused of stealing cows. He then was executed because he was counted guilty. Tim then moved on with his life and lived in Pennsylvania where he had kids.
Favorite Part of the Book: My favorite part was when the British were attacking the people because I feel like that was the most action packed thing that happened. I also felt like it was interesting where something really happened because the British attacked Tim’s town.
Historically Accurate: This book is somewhat accurate because some of the places in the book are real, most of the leaders of the militray are real, and some of the deaths of other real people actually happened to them. The Meeker family actually weren’t a real family and Betsy wasn’t real either.
Recommendation: I would recommend this book because the more you read the book and imagine what’s happening in your head the more interesting the book gets. So I would recommend this book because it’s more interesting than you think.
