UNIT ONE

This unit was about learning about ourselves. This meant that we were exploring our personalities and trying to understand "Who are we?". We had to make an essay that provided evidence to prove which Enneagram number we identify as most. I identify as an Enneagram 6. We also had to do two SARs (short answer responses).

UNIT TWO

This unit was about understanding our values. This meant that we were trying to determine what is important to us and answer the question "What do you value?". In this unit, we read "Taming of the Shrew" by Shakespeare. We also analyzed the characters and other authors (and their works).

UNIT THREE

This unit was about learning about injustice. We read the book "Night" by Elie Wiesel (it was about the Holocaust). We were trying to answer the question "What injustice do I see?".The unit was also about understanding and identifying different types of propaganda and researching about it. We had to create a research paper about a certain genocide. We also had to identify different types of propaganda used during the genocide.

UNIT FOUR

This unit was about taking a stand. This meant that we were going to voice our opinions about something and answer the question "How do I take a stand?". We had to write an editorial and read dystopian novels. With those novels, we had to connect them to our society and understand the true meaning behind the creation of dystopian novels.

ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS

When does it become necessary to take a stand? It becomes necessary to take a stand when you strongly believe in something. If you strongly believe something is injust or just wrong, then it is the perfect time for you to take a stand and voice your opinion. You should never be afraid because you are speaking for those who cannot or don't have the opportunity to do it themselves. What influence do you have on your world? Children are essentially the future of the world. We have the power to influence how the world will function. We can speak up against injustice and mistreatment of the environment and people. We are the new generation and have different opinions and actions than the ones before us.
