Introduction

One of the ways to measure a country's growth and stability is through the quality of its education. Investors, businesses and large corporation considers the quality of a country's education as a basic requirement in making economic decisions. The value of keeping the drop rate down and constantly getting a high student retention rate is proven to be a key factor to encourage more people to pursue higher education.

According to Jerome C and Hanos J (2017)

Student retention is therefore highly reliant on the ability of students to build and retain healthier behaviors within the campus. If students form unhealthy habits and do little to be safe or positive for their time on campus, they are unlikely to return the following year.

As per Morris (2020)

He state that the higher education retention rate has played an important role in determining whether a school is living up to the expectations set when recruiting students.

Statement of the Problem

The study sought to ascertain the Factors Affecting Hospitality Management Students Retention at Cavite State University- Cavite City Campus. The goal of this study is to know the factors affecting hospitality management students retention at Cavite State University- Cavite City Campus, it seeks to find the answers to the following questions:

1. What is the demographic profile of the participants in terms of:

Age;Sex;Civil Status;Gross Monthly Family Income;Year Level and Section;

Conceptual Framework

The conceptual framework contains the input, process and output. The input contains the demographic profile of the respondents in term of Age, Sex, Civil Status, Gross Monthly Family Income, Year Level and Section. The researchers will determine the perception of the participants towards the factors affecting Hospitality Management Students retention at Cavite State University- Cavite City Campus in terms of: economic, social, institutional, and individual, difficult year level for the Hospitality Management Students and the reasons why they enrolled in Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management in terms of: passion, personal preference, family and friends influence, school's recommendation and social media influence. The process contains the data gathering procedure, survey questionnaire, and data analysis. The output contains the significant relationship between the student retention’s factor and the reason why they enrolled in Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management and the enhancement program that can be proposed.

Time and Place of the Study

The study will be conducted from February to June 2021 at Cavite State University- Cavite City Campus. The participants will answer the survey questionnaire at their homes using google form.

Scope and Limitation of the Study

This research study is program to cover the Factors Affecting Hospitality Management Students Retention at Cavite State University Cavite City Campus. The scope of this study covers from 1st year up to 3rd year Hospitality Management students of Cavite State University Cavite City Campus. This study will not include other year level such as fourth (4th) year students taking Hotel and Restaurant Management at Cavite State University - Cavite City Campus. Limited only to factors affecting student retention and other scope or related studies will not be included.

METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the method of collecting data and development on the instrument for gathering data also the research design, participants of the study, sampling techniques, data to be gathered, and statistical treatment of data.

Research Design

This research utilized descriptive research. Descriptive research design will used to determine something about people and by describing people who take part in the study. The researchers will be collected and gathered data from the students who are currently enrolled this semester from first year up to third year students. (A.Y 2018- 2021) The research study will use Quantitative methods to emphasize on objective measurements and numerical analysis of data collected through questionnaires or surveys.
