MuSCULAR DYSTROPHY IS A GENETIC DISEASE AND it DEteriorates Skeletal muscle. SKeletal muscle is replaced by adispose and fibrous connective tissue.

Skeletal Muscle is an organ that allows for voluntary movement in the body and provides thermoregulation.

SYmptoms

• Falling frequently
• Difficulty standing
• Muscle pain
• Delayed growth

There is CURRENTLY no cure for MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY.

Dystrophin is a protein found in muscle cells and it lacks in muscular dystrophy. The protein allows for muscle fibers to strength together and provides protection .

Duchenne Muscular dystrophy

Electric wheelchairs are needed as walking and standing is a very difficult or impossible task.

Duchenne (DMD), a type of muscular dystrophy, is caused by the dystrophin gene mutated of skipping exons and is unable to make the dystrophin protein.

DMD affects 1 in 3500 Male Births a year and the average lifespan is 25 years old.

+DMD is an x-linked genetic disease.
