If you are graduating or leaving your school district, you can copy the contents of your Google Drive and Gmail and transfer it to a personal Google account. You can use Google Takeout or can share your files to your personal account. Whichever way you choose, you MUST have a personal Google Account to do this. Read below for more info!

Transferring Google files to a Personal Account

Using Google Takeout To Transfer Files:

Google Takout allows you to quickly transfer your files from your school to personal account. This includes documents, photos, and Gmail. Please note these items do NOT transfer/copy over:

  1. Images stored under “Google Photos”
  2. Shared with Me” Files that have NOT been “Added to Drive”
  3. Contacts, chats, or tasks in Gmail

Traditional Way to Transfer Files:

Go to your school Google Drive and move all files to that folder. Then share that folder to your personal Google account. From there you will click "Shared with Me", choose the folder and click "Add to My Drive" to ensure access to those files in the future. Don't forget to add your shared folders to you Google Drive.
