Educational reform during renaissance

Humanism
- A renaissance intellectual movement made by scholars and civic leaders in 14th to early 15th century Italy .
- Humanism is a philosophical way of thinking of the world and a set of ethics or ideas of how people should live or act.
- People who hold this set of ethics are called humanist. Humanist prefer critical thinking and evidence over dogma and superstition.
- During the renaissance, humanist studied ancient Roman and Greek texts with the goal of promoting new values in society and at the time the heavily focused on religious worldviews
How did the Protestant reformation impact education
- The reformers taught the the church held the most of priorities on educating children under the authority of God's Word.
- Luther encouraged the state to provide stability to education by undertaking and supporting primary and secondary schools.
- The reformation became the base for founding of Protestantism which is one of three branches of Christianity
What happened educational reform
- Education during the Renaissance was mainly composed of ancient literature and history, as it was thought that the classics provided moral instruction and an intensive understanding of human behavior.
- Students would learn parts of speech learned, students would also theorize about the nature of language and how thoughts were shaped through the use of words.
- The values and purposes were all focused on society and economic improvement, and to restore religious beliefs because people lives were influenced be educational advances this more and more people were being sent to school.
How did the renaissance educational system change from the Middle Ages
- .In times before the renaissance schools mainly focused on church.
- Later on schools started to appeal to humanists this meant instead of focusing on religion they focused more on science
- In the 13th century is when education started to increase because more people started to question the teachings of church
