Our code of conduct
- Treat each other with respect and dignity
- No form of : Bullying, harrasment, discrimination, unwelcome remarks, derogratory jokes, verbal and or physical abuse.
- Must cooperate with teachers
- Not permitted to come on property under influence of illegal drugs, alcohol, or controlled substances
- Students must show courtesy for themselves and others
- Fighting is prohibited
- Students shall wear strictly uniform clothes
- Must use appropriate and respectful language
- Smoking and Vaping must be done at designated areas
- Students must demonstrate honesty
- Any form of weapon is strictly prohibited

Why should you as a parent choose Oakland Academy:
Oakland Academy allows parents to worry less about needing to assist their children in their courses, as there will be additional programs for student support. Oakland Academy guide your child into a mature, social, devoted, accountable teenager ready for the challenges they will face once graduated.Our course "Needed life skills", will teach your child about social economics, social deviance, social learning theories, workplace manners and much more .
Why shoud students choose Oakland Academy:
Oakland Academy will provide you with necessity life skills for the 21st century. You will have the oppurtunity to develop workplace skills in our mandatory “needed life experiences” course. You will gain basic relationship skills and emotional skills. You may begin to figure out your true “self identity”, well doing so you will not be judged or discriminated against who you feel you are. You will also be able to take part in after school programs that focus on programs such as Science, Math and English. This will allow you to improve your knowledge, which can help you in your future pathways.
We have a mandatory "Needed life skills" course!
We feel every student should have the experience of viewing and participating in workplace problems at a young age. This means we allow students to pick a job off our options list and volunteer in their placement for a week length of their course. This course will teach individuals the fundamentals of societies acceptable behaviours,( the unwritten behavioural rules). Our course focuses on the norms within society so the students dont have to figure it out on there own.

Prejudice
Oakland Academy will not accept any forms of prejudice. If we find out a student has experienced any form of prejudice based comments, we will suspend the student/s who made the comments for a week. If this incident happens again we will kick the child out of our school.
Systemic discrimination
We have a mandatory assembly at the beginning of the school year regarding these kinds of problems, it will be made clear we will NOT put up with any one sided behaviours to another student, and if this happens punishments will be in place.
Here at Oakland Academy we feel the most important part of a teenager's highschool experience revolves around the facilities, different options of “hang out” spots, as well as the students having a variety of courses to choose from. Such as:
- Art
- Music
- Cooking
- Welding
- Computer tech
- Fashion
- Tech classes
We understand highschool can be a pretty stressful situation, especially with all the social pressure within school. That's why we have created a school with multiple varieties of spots for the students to be on their breaks. These include:
- 2 libraries
- 2 courtyards
- Picnic benches outside
- Multiple locker choices for their own choice of space
Social learning theory
We promote good behaviour here at Oakland Academy. While designing our school we had a Psychologist come in and help us design a school that will help our students be as successful as possible. She taught us about the Social Learning Theory, which is based around kids learning proper behaviours through observing. That is why we tell each grade to set good examples for the younger grades below them. Our key goal is for all students to be role models in our school.
