How long

We use the Present Perfect to talk about our life experience. How long (da quanto tempo) can be used in the questions to ask the duration of an action/situation. ex. How long have you been here?/ Have you been here (for) long? What time/when? --> Definite time ex. When did he arrive?/ He arrived an hour ago. When did he die? He died three months ago. How long> To talk about the duration of an action/situation started in the past but still continuing in the present. Italian > Presente indicativo dell'italiano + da DA> SINCE/FOR

For/since

FOR= period of duration of the action/situation Ex. I've had this car for three months. for a second, for a minute, for an hour, for a week, for one month, for two months, for three years, for a long time, for ages, for centuries, etc. SINCE= time in which the action/situation started since Thursday, since 2020, since 23rd March, since November, since Christmas, since I was born, since last summer, since I was a child, since my birthday, etc.
