How to start planning?

Planning can be approached by asking a series of questions: What are the objectives of my projects? What actions are needed to meet these objectives? (the activities) By when are these actions needed? (the schedules) How will these actions be done? (the resources) What other work is not going to be done? How do we know if it is working?

Thought Experiment

How would you ensure that you can purchase these items? e.g. Work, pocket money, researching the type of product you want and its price etc. How would you plan to save up?

What 3 tips will you use and apply to your 'Recharge!' project?

Let's revisit the birthday party you were planning. Here are some factors that rely heavily on your budget:

What are some extra things to also importantly consider?

These may not have to do with budgeting but with safety and risk management.

What is a risk assessment?

Risk assessment is a term used to describe the overall process or method where you:- Identify hazards and risk factors that have the potential to cause harm (hazard identification). - Analyse and evaluate the risk associated with that hazard (risk analysis, and risk evaluation). - Determine appropriate ways to eliminate the hazard, or control the risk when the hazard cannot be eliminated (risk control).Source: CCOHS

Risk assessment, register & risk mitigation stages

The process of risk assessment can be split into four stages:

Identify risk

Analyse & Evaluate risk

Treat risk

Monitor & Review

Identify any potential hazards

Eliminate or minimise the risk

Regularly collect and analyse relevant information to make sure you are doing what you set out to do

Assess the risk that the hazards create

What are some types of risks?

5.0 Project Evaluation

This final section will cover how to analyse completed goals, objectives and activities to determine whether the project has produced planned results.

Project Evaluation

There are 3 main parts of Project Evaluation:

Planning

Evaluation

Implementation

CONTINUE

1. Planning

2. Implementation

Assessment criteria overview (goals and objectives), project tools and software outline, scheduling & milestones

Mapping of steps, working on prototype or activity, research etc.

3. Evaluation

Collection of evidence/data, logbook of progress, reflection of what went well, and what didn’t. Why did the project turn out like it did? What are the factors that helped it grow or held it back?

For this section, we are going to focus on evaluation

To evaluate effectively, you should ask yourself the following questions:

  • Does the design of project fit the brief and the needs of the users?
  • Did the project progress efficiently and follow the required timeline?
  • Were resources used effectively?
  • Considering these answers, overall, what went well in the project? What could have been done differently?
