PREPOSITIONS OF PLACE
AT IN ON
PREPOSITIONS OF PLACE (at, in, on): definitions
PREPOSITIONS OF PLACE: AT, IN, ON
A preposition is a word that helps to describe the relationship between two nouns (people, places, things, or ideas). The most common prepositions of place are: at, in, on. These prepositions can also function as prepositions of time, but the concepts are different because the relationship between nouns is another one. Prepositions of time are used to indicate where events happen, or where one noun is in relation to another noun. (3)
- AT: If something is at a point, (it could be a building)
- IN: If something is contained inside a box or a wide flat area
- ON: If something is on a line or a horizontal or vertical surface

MAYBE YOU ARE ASKING YOURSELVES THE FOLLOWING QUESTION: what's the difference between: I am at my house vs. i am in my house
WARNING
Be careful!
You can normally use the word AT when you’re talking about an idea or a general area. EX: I’m at the beach. Context: I’m in the general area of the beach, but not necessarily on the physical, sandy beach. I may be in my hotel room, or sitting next to the pool, or in a city by the beach. So here, “at the beach” just means that you’re somewhere close to the beach, which is more an idea than a physical place. EX: at work, at home and at school, etc. Context: In each of these examples, you’re referring to an idea (at home) and not the physical place (in the house).
I am at the beach vs. i am in the beach (general location, idea) (physical place)
