Born on 21 march 1916, Bismillah khan belongs to a well KNOWN family of musicians in bihar.

Bismillah khan's compositions,"dil ka khilona hai toot gaya", turned out be a nationwide chartbuster.

With the opening of the all india radio in lucknow came bismillah khan's big break.

BISMILLAH KHAN BECAME THE FIRST INDIAN TO GREET THE NATION WITH HIS SHEHNAI.

Passed away on 21 august 2006 at the age of ninety after a prolongrf illness.

Ustad bismilah khan was awarded india's highest civilian award, bharat ratna.
