A2 Key for Schools is made up of three papers developed to test your English skills. You can see exactly what is in each paper.

The A2 Key for Schools Speaking test has two parts and you take it with another candidate. There are two examiners. One examiner talks to you and the other examiner listens. Both examiners give marks for your performance.

The A2 Key for Schools Reading and Writing paper has seven parts and different types of texts and questions. Parts 1–5 are about reading and Parts 6–7 are mainly about writing.

The A2 Key for Schools Listening paper has five parts. For each part you have to listen to a recorded text or texts and answer some questions. You hear each recording twice.

B2 First for Schools, formerly known as Cambridge English: First for Schools, is one of our Cambridge English Qualifications. It gives students the confidence to use their English in the real world.

Reading and Use of English

The B2 First for Schools Reading and Use of English paper is in seven parts and has a mix of text types and questions. For Parts 1 to 4, students read a range of texts and do grammar and vocabulary tasks. For Parts 5 to 7, students read a series of texts and answer questions that test reading ability and show that they can deal with a variety of different types of texts.

The B2 First for Schools Speaking test has four parts and the student takes it together with another candidate. There are two examiners. One of the examiners conducts the test (asks questions, gives the student a booklet with things to talk about, and so on). The other examiner listens to what the student says.

In the two parts of the B2 First for Schools Writing paper, the student has to show that they can write different types of text in English.
