RESEARCH QUESTION:
How to educate children, youth and adults, what content is indicated and real in social networks?
OBJECTIVES
01

02
Identify negative and positive aspects of the influence of the media on children, adolescents and adults.
Conduct a survey to collect statistical information on people of different ages about the influence of the media on their life.
03
Media influence on children
DVD/ Video
Television
Video games
Internet
Negative effects
Many of the food commercials on television are usually junk foods and influence children to take negative habits that lead to obesity
lack of sleep
Spending so much time in front of the television, tablet, playing video games, makes sleeping hours disorganized, produces lack of sleep, sleep anxiety, night waking and other consequences when it comes to rest. In the opposite way, it can also make the child abuse media influences and then have problems because she is sleepy all the time.
Violence
When watching videos, playing video games, and television programs where there is violence, children tend to copy the behaviors of the characters, which influences their behavior and creates conflicts with their parents, classmates, and in general to socialize
Sex, Alcohol and Smoking
Much programming is for adults, but unfortunately children access and see things that are not appropriate for their age which creates bad habits, such as wanting to smoke.
Positive effects
Television provides many learning spaces, where children develop many skills, such as communication, expression, television and appropriate audiovisual content stimulate the child. Video games in other languages make the child indirectly learn vocabulary.
Positive effects
The media provide distraction, and we must remember that healthy distraction is necessary, children need that space, to play, to watch movies, as long as this content is enriching, children will learn and have fun.
MEDIA INFLUENCES ON ADOLESCENTS
This can be seen in the daily use of 96% of the internet, and 83% in social networks. The use of the Internet, in most cases, is based on personal training, the development of topics of interest or knowing information about a specific situation.
In the adolescent stage, each of the young people has to define Who is, consolidating their identity and assuming it, since the media and social networks directly influence their attitudes and behavior.
Negative Aspects
Due to the false information that is promoted in the media, it can be directly affected at an emotional and behavioral level, because through this information or false news, hateful attitudes and behaviors can be promoted towards other people.
- The media can make young people start to confuse their reality, comparing their internal and external world with a fantasy or false reality.
- A distortion or an affectation in the body image and in the self-image can be presented by the different images, videos and comments that can be viewed on social networks and in the different media.
+info
- Through their own interests, and even common interests with other people, the social skills necessary for communication and interaction with the other can be developed, prioritizing affective communication.
- In adolescents, an interest in political and social issues may arise, in addition to the fact that through the media one can find activities of self-interest that are or promote health at a physical and mental level.
Positive aspects
- When limits are established, and a distinction is made between use and abuse, media and technology can be used correctly, where physical contact, affection and coexistence with the other are prioritized.
MEDIA INFLUENCES ON ADULTS
THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN
PROBLEMS
Although it is thought that the older the person has more control over the decisions he or she makes, it could be said that in some cases not, since the media have a great capacity to manipulate our decisions and although they have an important purpose to inform, They do not do it as it should be and this is why we have found cases where the media stopped communicating the "reality".
1. The most influential media end up in the hands of large economic groups. 2. The influence of bad marketing 3. Disinformation by FAKE NEWS
The most influential media end up in the hands of large economic groups.
Freedom of the press is one of the great conquests of the liberal state. Its relevance is such that thousands of human beings have died to realize this right, whose constitutional guarantee has a double dimension: the right to inform and the right to be informed.
Information about what? Well, about the management of public affairs. Of the issues that concern us all and that are financed by our taxes, because these are public goods that exist to improve our quality of life in society.
POWER AND REALITY
+EXAMPLE
So what predominates in the radio, television and print press is the indulgence with the government in turn In fact, these media receive on a daily basis considerable sums for the institutional pattern
The main purpose of the large conglomerates that own the media is profit. This is why they maintain a calculated or strategic relationship with the public authorities. And in this way the media has been abandoning its original function of unraveling and spreading the truth, to become contractors for whom to monitor.
THE NEW METHODS
EVIL CONSUMERISM
And as everything is moving forward, new methods of bad marketing have been implemented. First by stealing people’s information, as the information contained in the cell phone is used to create algorithms because they want to show us what we want to see, and the second is the "influencers" Because of their reach to the public they recommend products that could even do harm because they only want to profit.
Sometimes we enter into something called "programmed obsolescence", that is to say we buy or change the one we had for something newer by the simple fact of "being fashionable", the media has given us the idea that if you don’t have what’s new, you don’t need to be current.
Disinformation by FAKE NEWS
Fake news abounds on the web, so not only children are susceptible to falling into their hands and you can see clear examples
1. At one time it was said that the COVID vaccines contained a chip that would control us so these lost a lot of credibility 2. Other fake news was that "the sun would set for days" or the "great end of the world", thus creating compulsive purchases of supply 3. Many times the images are edited, it is very easy to add or remove something. Which leads us to not trust everything that is on the internet because we do not know to what extent the information we find is true
In Colombia it's totally normal that in the day-to-day to the mass media to find a way to hide, manipulate or distort the information they transmit to the colombians. A big part of the people who watches T.V. constantly complain about how they manipulate daily news like they are doing with the "actual shortage of food" in the principal cities of Colombia
Influence of the media in the instances of the National Strike
There we can see an example of how they manipulate the news. In the image we can notice the bad Photoshop edition work done to the next image.
Media manipulation is a series of related techniques in which partisans create an image or argument that favours their particular interests. Such tactics may include the use of logical fallacies, psychological manipulations, outright deception (disinformation), rhetorical and propaganda techniques, and often involve the suppression of information or points of view by crowding them out, by inducing other people or groups of people to stop listening to certain arguments, or by simply diverting attention elsewhere.

What this causes in the population?
To explain this, we see more examples
The principal objetive of the manipulation in this cases are the same, misinform those who watch the news, focused on the misrepresentation of the real situation

SURVEY
We decided do a survey to ask about the media in the people. which gave us the following answers
The survey was answered by 17 people, of which 60% were women and 40% men
How do you think the media influence you?
What is the communication medium with which you are most informed?
How much time do you spend per day in the medium selected above?
Through the media, do you think they manipulate the information given?
What criteria allow you to determine that the information you receive is real and reliable?
IN CONLUSION OF THE SURVEY
- Those who responded the most to the survey were young people (11 in total), of whom a little more than half believe that the media does influence them.
- The means of communication through which they are most informed are social networks, which is a clear example of today's technologies
- People spend on average around 3 hours getting informed
- 70% believe that the information given can be manipulated, which shows us that people do know that they have to rely on real news or real accounts that give true information and not at their convenience
- Due to this we decided to divide by age groups (children, adolescents and adults), in addition to the current situation of the country and say how the media could manipulate them and clearly how to avoid them.
SOLUTIONS
We think that the solution goes in each of the people and that it should be a change of all, so we will simply give you some tips so that you can implement them in your life and be a conscious citizen and be aware of the reality.
02
01
Inform yourself with true sources, so as not to believe and spread all the information found on networks and in the media.
Stop observing the most famous channels, and choose to view channels with truthful information.
03
04
Prioritize affection and coexistence, giving proper management to the use of the media and networks.
Always keep in mind that the most famous channels offer to transmit misinformation.
05
Distinguish between the use and abuse of the media, in order to develop the social skills necessary to make communication and social interaction effective.
06
Do not give a child under 12 years of age a complete cell phone, for this there are cell phones programmed for children, so that they can receive calls, see on YouTube only videos of content for children, play, take photos, but the options to navigate in the web and others are disabled.
SOLUTIONS
08
Although we are in the technological age, and we can not escape them, it is always good to motivate children to do other activities such as sports, board games and others.
07
Monitor the content children watch in your home.
