Flexible Seating

Teacher Space

Desk or tables?

Small group area

Flexible seating allows student choice & voice. Also provides opportunity for movement.

Assigned seating may help ease anxiety on the first day. Have spaces makred clearly and brightly so it's easy for students to read.

Will you have a desk? Or work out of a cart? Where will you put your technology?

Usually a kidney shaped table. Should have space for at least 4 students comfortably.

Classroom Library

Circle Area/Carpet

Regulation Station

Supply Spaces

Most helpful in primay grades to teach students how to self-regulate and manage their own emotions.

How will you organize books so they are easy to find? How will your students borrow your books? Where will they keep them?

This area should be large enough to function as a gathering spot for discussions and lessons. Each student should be assigned a spot to sit.

Where will you keep your supplies & supplies for students to use? Will teaching & modeling need to be done before access is allowed? Where & how will you store technology? Charging stations?
