Finally, it was time to edit. Therefore I used Adobe Premiere Pro. I included a voice over, edited everything together and added some extra effects that would finish off the story.
Assignment
For this assignment we were asked to introduce ourselves and to explain what we want to achieve in the world of journalism. We were free to unleash our creativity within the medium we chose. The only requirement was: tell a good story.
Result
Personally, I was very satisfied with the result. I really felt that I had been able to incorporate my personality into the video. I enjoyed every step of the process. My teacher and editor of Flair (Flemish lifestyle magazine), Elien Geboers, was also very pleased with the result. "The atmosphere of your video is great, your cuts come at just the right moment, it is sweet and romantic and at the same time a bit mysterious. But the content of your video is also well put together. It's nice how you refer to examples, how you visualize your ambitions from an original angle and give some extra personal information", she wrote.
Work method
I chose the medium of video because it was the best way for me to express myself. Then I thought about what was on my mind at the time. This could be anything, but I mainly focused on the things that could be visualised best. Then I created a storyboard. I thought about which shots could tell my story. Next, it was time to film. With my mobile phone and small film camera, I recorded all the visuals. I also provided a b-roll with extra atmospheric images.
COVID-moms
Watch
We recorded the interviews with the mothers and took additional shots of the surroundings. After this day of shooting, the editing-phase began. I wrote the voice-over and recorded it. Jaani edited the footage into a complete video report.
Assignment
For this assignment we worked in groups. For several weeks, we worked on different journalistic products, including two video reports and two audio reports. The video reports needed to be in the format of an item that might appear on the news.
Result
Jaani and I were quite satisfied with the result. Especially because we put this video report together in a relatively short time. In just under a week, our teachers' tip became a full-fledged video reportage. Our teachers were also positive about our reportage and admired our solution-oriented mentality.
Work method
To bring the video reports to a successful conclusion, I mainly worked with my fellow student, Jaani De Koker. Our teacher, Ria Goris, tipped us off to the subject. Then Jaani and I got to work. We met up with a few mothers who had given birth in times of COVID-19. Once we arrived at the agreed location, we encountered some technical problems. The audio input of our camera refused work. We finally decided to use our phones as microphones.

Jaani and I were quite satisfied with the result. Our teachers were also positive about our reportage. They told us they were intrigued by the man's story and they gave us some extra tips regarding composition and audio recording.
Work method
The idea for this video report came from my fellow student Jaani De Koker. He made the appointment with the painter. I took care of the camera and the tripod. Together we went to the location where the painter was fully occupied with his work. We filmed the painted windows, interviewed shopkeepers and passers-by and asked the painter a dozen questions. I filmed most of the footage and Jaani did the editing.

Result
We were asked to create a portrait piece, in which we portray a person (or a group). That person can be a well-known figure, someone who does something special or someone who has experienced something special. It can also be a group, e.g. a choir or a neighbourhood committee.
We were all reasonably content with the result. We only had two days to put everything together, so despite the time pressure, we did quite well. Our teacher, Steve Thielemans, gave us a few tips concerning video composition, lighting and sound.
Work method
For this assignment, I teamed up with my fellow students Melani and Jelle. We decided to portray musical student and Junior Eurosong winner, Pieter Vreys. Melani and I met up with Pieter. We interviewed him and took some extra shots of the scene. Afterwards Jelle edited the footage.
Aftermovie America
Watch
After the trip, the editing process began. I chose a cheerful song and edited the footage to it. The music was a great support and often added to the movement and composition of the footage. After a few days of playing around with the editing, the aftermovie was all done.
Assignment
This video was not linked to any (school) assignment. I wanted to capture the family trip we made to the United States in 2019 on video, so that we could look back at those fantastic experiences later on. I also simply wanted to get more into videomaking and editing. For those reasons, I chose to make an aftermovie of the three weeks of our holiday.
Result
Both my family and I were very happy with the clip. Now we have something tangible that takes us back to those moments. Photos are great for recalling memories, but videos are much more accurate. Personally, I think it is also a nice video to watch. I myself, am very satisfied with the progress I have made in terms of editing and filmmaking. Of course, that doesn't mean that there isn't still a lot to learn. Quite the contrary: I am very curious to experiment with and learn more about videography.
Work method
I had already made some aftermovies, so I knew a little bit about some of the pitfalls of videography. I chose to film everything with my mobile phone. This was because I simply did not have the space in my suitcase or the money to bring a professional camera. When filming, I made sure that my mobile phone was as stable as possible, that there were many people in the picture and that the lighting was good.
