The history of Canada after the colonialism
The actual flag was born in 1964, when the population started to want to be identified as Canadians and not as British born in America. Before this year, the flag was the union Britain flag. It was a real debate called “Great Flag Debate” led by the prime minister Lester Pearson. It was approved by Queen Elizabeth in 1965. The flag represents a maple leaf with 11 tips.
