Great, Emily!....Then what? -> We give an informal interview with the student and then test them.
NYSITELL
New York State Identification Test for English Language Learners
We test them to see how proficient they are in four English modalities...
- Reading
- Writing
- Listening
- Speaking
SLIDESMANIA.COM
Helpful hint to remember - this test TELLS you the proficiency level of each individual ELL.
Again....then what?
The NYSITELL will give us a score which determines 1 of 5 proficiency levels in English.
1. Entering 2. Emerging 3. Transitioning 4. Expanding 5. Commanding
