THE PASSIVE
There are 2 voices, the active and the passive voice. They indicate if the subject does the action or undergoes the action
- When the subject does the action, it is the active voice
ex: The character touches the bananaThe character is the subject, it is the one who acts and touches the banana
- When the subject undergoes the action, it is the passive voice
ex: the banana is touched here the subject (the banana) undergoes the action, it is touched

THE FORMATION OF THE PASSIVE VOICE
BE CAREFUL WITH IRREGULAR VERBS
It is formed with the verb BE + past participle (-ED at the end of the verb)It is the verb BE that is conjugated in the right tense and then the past participle is added ex: INFINITIF = to be followPRESENT SIMPLE = he is follow PRETERIT = he was follow PROGRESSIVE PRESENT = he is being followex: he was followed ( indirect ) il a été suivi a policeman is followed him ( direct ) un policier l'a suiviWe can use GET (or GOT in the past tense) instead of the verb BE to express the passive voice. ex: he get followed / he got followed il se fait suivre il a été suivi
