hormones and functions

The hormones of the thryoid gland are t3 and t4 as well as calcitonin that regulates the level of calcium and phospate.Additionly,T4 is converted T3 which is an homeone thats active in the organs and tissues. Also,TSH is another hormone that produces T4 and T3.All these hormones help regulate breathing, heartrate, and tempreture as well as how quick you can burn calories.

location and interrelationship with another gland

Location:in the middle of the larynx and the trachea Interrelationship with another gland:The throid gland works with the hypothalamus as it signals the pituitary gland to produce TSH(thyroid simulating hormone) which then signals your thyroid to make T3&T4.The hypothalamus and pituitary gland can also adjust the release of TSH depending on the ammount of thyroid hormones is high.

homeostatic imbalances

Hypothyrodism: Is when the thryoid is underactvive and it doesnt produce enough hormones that are crucial. There are not a lot of clear symptoms at first however later on it can cause problems such as obesity, infertility, heart disease and joint pain. There are tests that can detect hypothyrodism and the treatment is with a synthetic thryoid hormone. I think that obstacle that physicans would face is that the symptoms develop slowly therefore you cant diagnose it as soon as possible.Hyperthyroidism: This is caused when you thyroid is overactive as the thyroid gland makes more homrones than the body needs. Some symptoms are nervousness, fatigue, muscle weakness , weight loss and mood swings. They are able to run tests like TSH,T3,T4 to detect hyperthyroidism. Some treatments are medicine such as beta blockers or antithyroid medicines. As well as radioiodine therapy which is when you consume radioiodine.Lastly , you can do surgery to get most of the tyroid gland removed. There is a study to help the diagnositic testing for autoimmune thyroid testing.
