Ender's Game

Ender Wiggin

Commander

Self Hatred

"Knocking him down won the first fight. I wanted to win all the next ones, too, right then, so they'd leave me alone." (Card 15)

Life Saver

Reliable

"I am not a killer, Ender said to himself over and over. I am not Peter." (Card 27)

"I'm trapped here, Ender thought, trapped at the End of the World with no way out. And he knew at last the sour taste that had come to him, despite all his successes in the Battle School. lt was despair." (Card 108)

Deep Thinker

"You made the hard choice, boy. All or nothing. End them or end us. But heaven knows there was no other way you could have done it. Congratulations. You beat them, and it's all over." (Card 228)

Author - Orson Scott CardPresentation Created By - Zenden Stack

1) I chose these quotes because the main character, Ender, has a lot of self conflict and struggle finding out who he really is, so it only makes sense to reflect that.

2) So I imagine the little stick figure in the middle as Ender. I find the stairs to be his journey throughout his life and him climbing up the stairs to find out who he is at the top.

3) I chose commander because he is a commander. I chose life saver, because he saved a species from extinction, and saved all of his own people as well. I chose self hatred because he said that he hated himself because of what he was becoming. I chose reliable because all of his soldiers rely on him to make them better and win every battle. I chose deep thinker, because he thinks about his life choices and things he should do a lot. He saves a species when the author writes, "He reached into the cavity and took out the cocoon. It was astonishingly light, to hold all the hope and future of a great race within it." (Card 248) He also shows self hatred when he says, "I'm your tool, and what difference does it make if I hate the part of me that you most need?" (Card 92) The author shows Ender as reliable when he says, "But they were proud, happy, close -- they had never lost, and they had learned to trust each other. Trust their fellow soldiers to fight hard and well; trust their leaders to use them rather than waste their efforts; above all trust Ender to prepare them for anything and everything that might happen. " (Card 156)

4) The border that is included on my one pager is actually from the movie, Ender's Game. It's a space battle scene, and it stuck out to me because it reminded me of when Ender defeated the enemy, but he felt sorry for them at the same time, because it wasn't completely thier fault, later saving their species from exstinction.
