THIS IS THE LAST PERIOD OF THE MESOZOIC ERA, ENDS WITH THE EXTINCTION OF THE DINOSAURS (EXCEPT BIRDS).
This period ended with the most extensive extinction event recorded in paleontolgy. 95% marine species became extinct.
