The meat or seafood is simmered together with green beans, white beans, rice, and herbs like saffron and rosemary. Food etiquette in spain
1-Spaniards do not switch knives and forks. The knife remains in the right hand, and the fork remains in the left. When the meal is finished, the knife and fork are laid parallel to each other across the right side of the plate.
2- Bread is usually served without butter so there will not be a butter knife. There will generally be no bread dish. Bread is placed on the rim of your main plate or on the table by your plate.
3- The one who invites usually pays the bill. Other circumstances may determine the payee (such as rank).
Supposed and not Supposed to
Allow the host to begin eating first: Don’t dive into your dish before the host. Wait until the host begins eating or says,“¡Buen Provecho!”(Enjoy your meal) to begin eating your meal.
Use your eating utensils: You will be given a fork, a spoon, and a knife to use while eating. Large spoons are for foods such as soup and beans. Small spoons are for desserts.
Don’t dip your bread in the soup: In Spain, it is considered rude to dip your bread in the soup. In fact, it is uncommon to dip bread in anything, including sauces.
UAE and Spain food culture
All peoples have their different cultures, including the culture of eating, which is one of these very important cultures, for each people has a special culture like the food they eat, and the nature of its cooking, for example in desert areas where camels abound, the Bedouins prefer camel meat and milk, and they are proficient in cooking this Meat. As for the areas surrounded by seas and rivers, people prefer fish and marine life, and they are brilliant in preparing and cooking them. As for the UAE, it depends in its eating culture on two basic elements: marine life, foremost among which are fish species, and there is also a food culture for the desert environment within it, in which reliance is on camel meat. Every country has its own food culture. Spain remains the most popular tourist destination for its pleasant weather, interesting culture, and also exquisite cuisine. Spanish food delicacies are still enjoyed by people in various parts of the world. The ingredients used in Spanish cooking are quite different and that generates an exotic aroma, making it truly delicious. The people there do not give importance to the food presentation style. However, their cooking style makes up for the added flavor. There are some similarities between Spanish food and the UAE. First, the seafood. These two countries are famous for their seafood, especially in the coastal cities, to eat fresh fish and seafood, which is eaten grilled or fried with bread and salad. Also spices, the influence of the Arab era appears in the spices that the Spaniards still use in their kitchen to this day, and one of the most important of these spices is saffron, which is used to give the rice a golden color and a distinctive flavor. Furthermore, these two cuisines also rely on legumes such as chickpeas, white beans, and lentils. It is used in preparing various dishes of soup or pulses cooked with tomatoes. Food is a guide and important to the people and their cultures in any country of this world. For me, the best way to get to know people is by finding out what they are eating and the way they eat. We can learn a lot about each other, over-perusing their contents or even sifting through the snacks they hide in one of their desk drawers.
Thank you!
