Place a coffee filter in its corresponding tank. It is better to use a good filter specifically made for making coffee than any paper filter.

Measure the amount of coffee. The standard proportion is 2 tablespoons of coffee. It is advisable to take a look at the instruction manual of the coffee maker you are going to use before deciding the proportion between coffee and water.

Measure the amount of water needed to make the coffee. To measure, you can use the measuring lines on the coffee container or on the water tank of the coffee maker.

Plug in the coffee maker and turn it on. Some brewers start making coffee automatically, while others require a manual brew time setting beforehand.
