Clam Model

Foot: Clams have the most control of their movement using their feet. This foot allows for a certain amount of lateral (side-to-side) movement.

Gill: The function is to be the place where waste is expelled. incurrent siphon and is filtered by the gills.

Labial Palps: A pair of labial palps are located at the anterior end of each set of gills. They direct the trapped food toward the mouth.

Adductor muscles allow clams to open and close their shells. The muscles also allow clams to close their valves tightly when they are exposed to air

Clams have a complete digestive system. It consists of a mouth where food is ingested, a short connecting tube called the esophagus

The mantle is muscular, and many species have modified it to use for siphoning water for feeding and propulsion.

Siphons in molluscs are tube-like structures in which water flows (or more rarely in which air flows).

The valves prevent the backward flow of blood. These valves areactual flaps that are located on each end of the two ventricles (lower chambers of the heart).
