The cold war and Life in the 50s
Rivery between the United States and the soviet union. when world war II ended offcials agreed that the strategy called “containment" would be the best defense. During this time many officials encouraged the development od aromic weapons which then began a deadly "arms race" which the Soviets then tested their own atomic bomb then President Truman responded saying United States would build a even more distructive atomic bomb. The threats had an impact in American life since they practiced attack drills in public places even schools. In the 1950s and 60s there was a ton of popular films that depicted the devetations. After the Cold war families got bigger couples started having kids since they were confident on the future. Jobs during this time were increasing while wages also increased. The baby boom happened almost immediltly after the cold war which many were having kids and needed more space to they moved to the Suburbs.
