Call the adventure
Step 1
Tarzan is still an infant when he has to face this stage. His family has been shipwrecked and they go to the nearest island to the site of the wreck. He and his parents set out in their boat to land on this strange land. It is then that mysterious circumstances call young Tarzan to a special world. The world of the jungle.
Assistance
Step 2
This time the hero will not receive material assistance. He will be taught and educated by Kala, a monkey who took him in after his parents died during a leopard attack. He learns to live in harmony with nature and to grow up with animals. He will understand them and talk to them. This can be seen as a real strength and assistance. Moreover, at the beginning of the film Kala saves him from the leopard's claws, which means that without her, Tarzan could never have been a hero.
Departure
Step 3
Kala takes Tarzan back to the monkey tribe. Tarzan thus enters a new world with animals that are not like him. He is different, he is not of the same species.
Trials
Step 4
Tarzan faces new challenges. Indeed, his ultimate challenge will be to find his place in this tribe and to make Chief Kerchak accept him. Tarzan's first challenge is to make friends. They tell him that if he wants to be part of their group of friends he must go and get an elephant hair. So he launches himself from the top of a waterfall and throws himself at the elephants. He finally succeeds in his challenge and has friends. Throughout his childhood he tried to become like the other members of the tribe, moving around with lianas and doing the same activities as them. He trains to become like the others.
Approach
Step 5
This time Tarzan is faced with his biggest challenge yet, he has to deal with the leopard that killed his parents. The leopard attacks Kerchak the chief. Tarzan sees an opportunity to take his place and throws himself on the leopard to save Kerchak. He fights against it for a long time in a fierce battle. He has a spear and manages to wound it in the left leg. He hopes that by doing this fight, he will be considered as one of them.
Crisis
Step 6
The leopard manages to overtake Tarzan and chases him up a tree. He jumps on him and breaks his spear, which falls to the bottom. Tarzan gets stuck in the roots and almost dies several times. He gets scratched badly on his chest. But the hero is reborn. Indeed, they both fall into a hole. And Tarzan manages to kill the animal.
Treasure
Step 7
After killing the leopard, Tarzan is seen as a real hero. The monkeys and all the other animals cheer him, so he is one of them. So he earns their recognition. He then brings the leopard's body to Kerchak as a gift, so that he will finally accept it. It is not clear what Kerchak thinks, but we can say that Tarzan has convinced him after saving his life.
Result
Step 8
He has become something of a king of the jungle. All the monkeys and animals bow to his victory over the leopard. Now he is faced with a completely different problem: the arrival of explorers on his territory.
Return
Step 9
In the film Tarzan, the hero will not return to the ordinary world. However, he will be brought into contact with the human world. Indeed, these explorers are of the same species as him. This can be seen as a kind of return to the ordinary world. Tarzan will therefore observe these humans and meet them. They show him images of the city, images of people dressed up and dancing, as well as monuments in certain countries of the world. So he will get in touch with his real world. He will be taken in a boat with the aim of bringing him back to his real world by force. But he will only leave the shore for a short time.
New life
Step 10
The hero will change after meeting Jane. He will be able to compare himself to her. Including the scene where he compares his hands with her. He notices that he is the same species and that he is not the only one. But Clayton, one of the explorers, wants to harm him and to kill him. The plot is not yet fully resolved.
Resolution
Step 11
Tarzan will confront Clayton. He will end up killing him. The last of the problems has been defeated. But during the battle the chief Kerchak will die. Before dying, he apologizes to Tarzan, telling him that he has always been part of the tribe and that he must defend the tribe at all costs. He would become the new representative. He will call him "my son". The plot unravels on this dramatic moment.
Status quo
Step 12
Jane will decide to stay with Tarzan and the whole tribe. The hero returns to the starting point having gained courage, made friends, made discoveries, fought his fears, protected his family and found love. He has therefore moved on to the next level in his life.

In this more recent version there are a few drawbacks. To begin with, this more realistic film gives a more violent and tragic aspect than the original story. The film deals with difficult subjects. It is therefore not recommended for young people. The disadvantage is that young children who are used to romantic stories may be shocked by the violence of the film. In addition, some of the themes dealt with in the film refer to concepts that younger children simply cannot understand. This limits the understanding of the film. The moral of the story is a bit sad, it shows how men are ready to do anything to conquer. On the other hand, it is a bit of a wake-up call.
This revisit has several advantages. It gives us a more realistic picture of the story where the fantastic settings of the cartoon can be compared with real landscapes. This revisitation is based on an ecological message. Indeed, deforestation and its consequences is a very striking fact. We see big machines cutting down trees. We talk about colonialism, we see how white people arrive on conquered ground in the jungle. We can understand the notion of the quest for identity. Wanting to understand where you come from, who you are. As you grow up, you evolve, you understand things differently. There is also a message of tolerance and openness to others. We must accept those who are different, we are shown that a gorilla family is also to be respected. This version also represents the violence suffered when one is different and that real life is not a fairy tale.
Thanks!
