-Gerardo de Leon Ilagan-September 12, 1913 -Manila s a member of the Ilagan clan of Philippine motion pictures, which includes Robert Arevalo, Conrado Conde, Angel Esmeralda, Eddie Ilagan, musical scorer Tito Arévalo, and his daughter Liberty Ilagan. De León was a medical doctor by profession, but his ultimate love for film won him over.

Did you know?-The only director in the Philippines to have won the FAMAS Award for Best Director three consecutive times: in 1960, 1961 and 1962. -The most-awarded director in the history of the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences: 7 awards. -Brother of Eddie Ilagan, Conrado Conde, Tito Arevalo, and Angel Esmeralda. -Father of Liberty Ilagan. -After the war ended De Leon and several of his staff were arrested by the new Philippine government, imprisoned and charged with collaboration with the enemy--an offense punishable by death.
