Victorian fashion trends
When the Victorian era was in its heyday, aristocrats prided themselves on their pale, untanned complexion, which not only reflected their high material status (i.e. not having to work in the sun), but was also considered a sign of a romantic nature. Moreover, a naked woman was considered an ideal candidate for a wife and mother who would spend all day at home. To emphasize the pale complexion, ladies additionally applied whitening powders to their skin.
Victorian stylizations are above all glamor, luxury, rich decorations and sophisticated jewelry. The most expensive materials and stones were selected and no attention was paid to details. Minimalism was relegated to the background, while what was effective and eye-catching dominated. The Victorian era in women's fashion tried to emphasize femininity.
Mens victorian style
Most of the city's men in those days wore cuffed shirts with a vest over them. The vest may have pockets designed to carry tissues and watches. A strip appeared above him, making the young man's figure appear slimmer. Black or brown gloves were used as accessories. Gloves intended for winter had a hemming made of fur. Men's coats from this period were very elegant. These included an ulster, a chesterfield, and a tuxedo.
