female reproductive system

What is reproduction?

Reproduction is the process by which organisms generate more organisms of their kind. But while the reproductive system is essential to keep a species alive, unlike other body systems, it is not essential to keep an individual alive.

What is the female reproductive system?

The outer part of the female reproductive organs is called the vulva, which means "cover". The vulva, which is located between the legs, covers the opening leading to the vagina and other reproductive organs located inside the body. The fleshy area located just above the top of the vaginal opening is called Mount Venus.

What is the female reproductive system?

The vaginal opening is surrounded by two pairs of skin folds called lips. The clitoris,a small sensory organ, is located towards the front of the vulva, where the folds of the lips join. Between the lips, there are openings to the urethra (the channel that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of the body) and the vagina. When a girl reaches sexual maturity, the outer lips and mount of Venus are covered with pubic hair. The woman's internal reproductive organs are the vagina, uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. The vagina is a hollow muscle tube that extends from the vaginal opening to the uterus. Because it has muscle walls, the vagina can expand and contract. This ability to widen or narrow allows the vagina to hold something as thin as a tampon or as wide as a baby. The muscle walls of the vagina are covered by mucous membranes, which keep it moist and protected.

How does the female reproductive system work?

Sexual reproduction would not be possible without sex organs called gonadas. Most people believe gonadas are the testicles. But the two sexes have goons: in women, gonadas are the ovaries, which produce female gametes (eggs). Male goons produce male gametes (sperm).
